2011/2012 Community Events
The school is a focal point for the Guffey community. While the ends policies adopted by the School Board naturally focus on the students, they also encourage the use of the school by the entire community. The following events are sponsored by the school but are intended to involve the everyone.
Open House and Pet Parade, September 10, 10:30am-12:30pm

Geologist Steve Veatch will present a reprise of his paper, From Mineral Strike to Meteor Strike, last presented in 2008, featuring many fascinating historical facts about Guffey. The talk will be preceded by a potluck dinner, and if the weather permits, we'll have the observatory open afterward to peek at what the heavens offer.
Halloween Parade, October 27
The students and staff wear costumes to school, and parade through the town in the afternoon. Community members are invited to join them.

Alumni return to the school to share their experiences with all, but most especially with our 8th graders, who are faced with the important decision of choosing their high school.
Winter Program, December 15
An annual student production featuring original performances and traditional holiday songs, food, and festivities. The entire town is invited.
8th Grade Breakfast and Team Meeting, March 3

8th Grade Presentation Celebration Day, May 18
This is the day that all of the 8th grade work has led up to: a public presentation including an autobiography, demonstration of life skills, demonstration of artistic and academic performance, and a major, year-long project. This is a chance for the community to see our students at their finest.
Graduation and Awards, May 31
It's always standing room only as the school sends its 8th graders out into the bigger world. Students from preschool through 8th grade will receive awards for their work during the year. Afterwards, the School Board sponsors a barbeque for the town.
